Advocacy for Awareness, Genetic Testing, Prevention & Treatment

Did you know that every six minutes, someone in the United States dies from a blood clot? Each year, nearly one million Americans are diagnosed with blood clots, resulting in more than 100,000 premature deaths—more than HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, and motor vehicle accidents combined.

Grace’s story is a heartbreaking reminder that blood clots do not discriminate by age or appearance of health. Grace was a vibrant, active teenager with an undiagnosed genetic clotting mutation known as Factor V Leiden, a condition that significantly increases the risk of dangerous blood clots. Like many families, we had never been educated about genetic risk factors, warning signs, or the simple tests that can save lives.

We are asking you to join forces with the Grace’s Legacy Foundation and urge Congress to increase funding for the Division of Blood Disorders and Genomics at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Expanded education and awareness programs can help families recognize risk factors, understand genetic mutations, and take proactive, life-saving action.

Type in your zip code, share Grace’s story—or your own—with your local representatives, and let your voice be heard.
